Job Description - Embedded Software Developer

Description

This is a mid to senior level position that requires at least 5 years of industry experience in the areas described below.

Details

Work will include a variety of hardware components and software development environments.

In many cases, the work will involve equipment, devices, or software which are not yet released requiring software never before developed.

This work will have a very high level of challenges and requires an experienced and disciplined approach to design, development, and problem solving.

Experience

This is a senior level position that requires significant experience in the areas described below.

Requirements

Significant C and C++ development experience is required.
Good debugging skills are a must.
Low-level embedded experience including embedded Linux-variants and other embedded operating systems.
Operating system internals development including drivers, file systems, protocols, network and other communication interfaces, and other OS areas.
Experience developing network oriented software including working at the TCP/IP socket level.
Ability to understand a hardware device data sheet and be able to translate this information into a working software component interfacing with this hardware device.
Software design skills including the ability to create detailed and complete system designs and other system documentation.
Good written communications skills.
Working with software development oriented around communications and networking devices, wireless communications, serial protocols, and other communication areas.
The ideal person must be self motivated and have a disciplined approach to software development. Authorized to work in the United States

Desirable

Protocol level networking experience (protocol design and/or implementation from protocol specifications).
Working with software development oriented around communications and networking devices, wireless communications, serial protocols, and other communication areas.
Hardware experience including schematic reading and hardware troubleshooting as appropriate to validate and test new hardware designs for correct operation

Education

MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields. BS with applicable industry experience will also be considered.

Interview Process

Candidates with resumes of interest will undergo a rigorous, but not unpleasant, interview process including:

An initial phone interview with a potential engineering oriented peer
If we decide to continue, there will be some follow up programming questions to be completed at your pace
If we mutually decide to move forward from there, the next step would be an in person interview with several of your potential engineer peers on a one-on-one basis which will include solving some relatively straightforward programming problems
