I graduated in Fall 1998, with a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the University Of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Software Technologies Group is my employer, where I work on device drivers for UNIX, NT, and MacOS and other non-disclosure software engineering projects. :-) I'll periodically update my resume to include generic descriptions of my work. My most recent project was developing an OpenTransport driver for MacOS 8.x to implement RFC 2516, PPP over Ethernet. My freetime software development is keeping me on my toes... ROAM has led me to do a lot of work with undocumented MacOS internals. Keep an eye out for updates to ROAM, MacJikes, MacFiglet, UnderControl, and maybe for a "high-performance" port of bzip2 to MacOS. Look at my programming project pages for more insight.
During Spring, Summer and Fall 1998, I worked as a build engineer and porting engineer for Wolfram Research developing various Mindvision VISE installer code plugs for their Macintosh products. I also hunted bugs in the Macintosh Kernel. Building the "custom" Mathematica Frontend & Kernel were very big parts of my work. (They are used in Publicon & Calculus Live, but my name is not attached to them anywhere.)
My interests in computers range from VHDL level microprocessor programming, to instruction set design, to compiler optimization and language design, as well as interconnection of components. As far as interconnection, UIUC's ECE 311 is an awesome class which has given me much insight on dealing with timing diagrams as well as using VHDL to implement state machines based on them. This class dominated my time in the Spring 1998 semester where I learned how to use a logic analyzer (donate one to me! =) and how to read timing diagrams for various chips.
As of Fall 98, I relinquished authority of MacWarriors and SigMicro to our younger members in the interest of increasing the longevity of these groups. The previous two years, I spent my freetime co-chairing MacWarriors, and the later year, its Registered Student Organization, SigMicro. Check out the QuickTime VR Walkthrough we did for our MacWarriors' EOH 1998 project. The MacWarriors are a subgroup of ACM's SigMicro group, and has an average attendance of 8 to 12 members at any meeting. If you are a UIUC student, have a Mac, and want to learn more about it, or show off your knowledge, show up for our meetings sometime! I still provide some technical support for the group even though I am an alumn.
A phrase that will forever affect my views on life: "With priviledge comes responsibility, with responsibility comes priviledge."More quotes.

"Think, there must be a harder way."
-- Alfred K., my grandfather... the funny thing is that I usually do find the harder way of doing things many times before realizing the simpler solution.Words are very unnecessary, they can only do harm. (Depeche Mode)
