SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES GROUP JOINS PROJECT UDI EFFORT

WESTCHESTER, IL – Software Technologies Group (STG) is proud to announce STG's participation in the development of the Uniform Driver Interface standard as part of the Project UDI effort. This effort will bring the first practical implementation of portable device driver code to a wide range of commercial operating systems such as Solaris, SCO UNIX, UnixWare, AIX, HP-UX, Linux, and others.

"This is a giant win for our OEM customers because they'll be able to leverage their driver development efforts across multiple platforms easier than ever before," said Chris Herzog, President of STG. "This will significantly reduce the effort needed to develop and maintain driver level code across multiple operating environments," said Herzog.

STG has teamed with vendors such as Sun Microsystems, The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO), Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Adaptec, Intel, Interphase, and others to develop and release an industry standard driver programming environment. Specifically, STG will be developing the UDI reference environment for the Linux operating system. Once the work is complete, the code will be released as open source for others to examine and work with. STG plans to continue to offer support and updates for UDI on Linux to keep the software abreast of new Linux kernel changes as well as assisting our customers in developing new drivers and other technologies related to UDI.

Software Technologies Group, founded in 1990, is a full-service software developer of Windows NT, Linux, UNIX, and embedded systems software for original equipment manufacturers. STG specializes in multi-platform development and testing in an environment consisting of a wide range of hardware platforms, operating systems, and networking protocols including Windows NT/2000/98/95, Sun, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Silicon Graphics, and other hardware and software environments.

In addition to supporting the Project UDI effort, STG develops a wide range of customer software for its OEM partners. Examples of STG projects include:
